BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- St. Francis College goalie Igor Mladenovic (So., Belgrade, Serbia/Sportska Gimnazija) made 15 saves in five quarters during a 2-0 conference weekend for the No. 20-ranked Terriers to claim the September 26 Men's Varsity Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
He opened the weekend by recording two saves in one quarter of play between the pipes during a 21-3 victory over Connecticut College in the 2010 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Champion Terriers' Northern Division opener at Flushing Meadow Pool. In addition, he added pairs of goals and assists while playing the field in the second half of the contest.
His best game of the weekend came versus No. 18-ranked Brown University as he stopped 13 shots and held the Bears to four-of-17 on man-up opportunities in a 16-7 victory.
On the year, he has 116 saves and two goals with 85 goals allowed, 20 steals, six assists and three five-meter penalties saved in 39 periods of competition.
The award marks the third in Mladenovic's career as he previously garnered the Northern Division's September 20 Rookie of the Week and Octotber 4 Defensive Player of the Week awards during the 2010 season.
