BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Harvard University will host the 2011 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship on November 18-20 in Cambridge, Mass.
Featuring the top four teams from the Northern Division and Southern Division Championships, the Eastern Championship will determine the Collegiate Water Polo Association's conference championship and recipient of the league's automatic bid to four-team National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship on December 3-4 at Spieker Aquatics Complex at the University of California-Berkeley.
In the past eight years, three teams have dominated the championship with the United States Naval Academy (2003, 2006, 2007, 2008), Princeton University (2004, 2009) and St. Francis College (2005, 2010) claiming all the titles. The last active CWPA varsity institution other than Navy, St. Francis or Princeton to claim an Eastern title was Brown University in 1985.
Fans looking for hotel accomodations are strongly urged to consider the Holiday Inn Boston-Somerville, the official host hotel for the 2011 CWPA Eastern Championship and Hall of Fame banquet.
