BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Goalie Heidi Ritner (Fr., Newport Harbor, Calif./Corona del Mar) of No. 8-ranked the University of Michigan stopped 42 shots with an assist and five steals over the span of 134 minutes between the pipes at the University of California-San Diego Triton Invitational to earn a share of the February 13 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week award.

The award marks the third weekly honor of the season for Ritner as she previously earned nods as the January 23 CWPA Division I Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week.

She opened the weekend on the West Coast by making six saves with a pair of steals in a 17-4 defeat of No. 23 Marist College prior to turning aside 10 scoring tries in a 7-2 victory over No. 9 University of California-Santa Barbara.

Facing No. 2/defending National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Champion the University of Southern California in the tournament's semifinals, Ritner allowed the Trojans a season-low nine goals and stopped 10 shots in a 9-5 loss.  She wrapped up the weekend with arguably her best performance as Ritner recorded 17 saves - the sixth most in Wolverines' history - including four saves in overtime as the Maize & Blue fell to No. 6 the University of California-Irvine in the Third Place game by an 8-7 final count.

She shares the Rookie of the Week award with Emily Wickenheiser (Fr., Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) of first-year program Saint Francis University.  Wickenheiser registered 16 goals, four ejections drawn and eight steals in a 2-1 weekend for the Red Flash at the Bucknell University Bison Invitational to share both the Rookie and Player of the Week awards from the league office.
